In the beginning of 2015 3 friends decided to open a side business in the city of Mississauga, many ideas came to the table, a quick serve restaurant ended up being the chosen one and it was a fast and upcoming brand named The Wingery out of Oakville, with about a decade in the market, it’s big wins, flavourful sauces, efficient operations and straight up menu the decision was really easy.

Couple years in, thousands of lbs of wings served and hundreds of satisfied customers we were able to exit the franchise contract due to external circumstances, now on our own a new brand was born; The Wing Factory, that took things to the next level and brought a new vision for the brand and part of that vision was growth so we opened a second location in downtown Toronto, much bigger location, went from quick serve to full serve service, went thru two challenging years during the pandemic and just over 4 years in on that location we were presented with an offer we couldn’t refuse and sold the set up and closed that Toronto location.

Toronto was a great learning experience and at that point it was time to move on a different direction with the brand so the decision was made to start looking into franchising ourselves, owning the brand, having dialled the business model to it’s most efficient operations and now almost a decade of experience and a growing customer base were enough reasons to start the process.

That’s when we hit a road block and it was the name, in order to sell franchises you need to own the name and when we try to trade mark The Wing Factory the lawyers discovered it was already trade marked many years ago by a pizza company in the GTA, up to that point they have never used it hence why we were able to operate under that  name but instead of trying to buy it from them (which had small chances of happening) we decided to move forward with a new name and that’s when we became The Wing Nation, a lot of names were proposed but to make things easier and the change seamless to avoid much confusion to our customers changing Factory for Nation was the best option.

With the new name things were easier, it is now a trade marked brand, all the legal was finished for the franchise corporation and we continue to develop our plans of growing the brand with more stores while maintaining consistency in our quality of products and services.
